I was interested in understanding why people behave in certain ways, and how the brain works to start off. I went into alcohol addiction research after attending lectures on it, and just finding it really interesting and doing more reading on it outside of lectures (tragic nerd moment, I know). I always wanted to work in a health related field, so knowing that research looking into alcohol addiction or psychology of general can influence this people’s heath is really rewarding.

Research for me is about trying to figure out how things work, so I love the constantly getting to ask new questions. Even when we don’t find any results or explanations, I still love that, I’m stubborn so have a habit of persisting till I can try and figure something out.

I’m really interested in factors that can change what and how much we eat because obesity is such a huge problem in society and we actually still know very little about what can change what we choose to eat! I’m particularly interested in how mood can change what we eat because there are so many links between obesity and changes in mood and certain treatments that have been trialled for obesity are often unable to be used because they can cause a lot of changes in mood! I’m particularly interested in positive mood and feeding because we still know hardly anything about it!

      Hi Chloe!
Sport was always one of my hobbies, so mixing it with psychology was great. In my late teens I really got into running, and so my research now is in the psychology of running. So, in some ways, my hobby is also my job!
