I use a variety of methods in my research. Some of it is online surveys. At the moment a lot of it is qualitative methods – interviews and focus groups. In the past I have been involved in randomised controlled trials. Before any study can start it has to go through strict ethical review, and it can take a few months before you have approval to start your study. As a psychologist we also have to adhere to the British Psychological Society (BPS) code of ethics and conduct in our professional behaviour.
